Twitter is a popular social media outlet, with hundreds of thousands of people perusing through the streaming videos, live feeds and thousands of tweets. There are so many trending videos, ranging from funny, infuriating, or sweet as can be. I, personally, enjoy a good cat video, myself.
We live in such an amazing era of technology, where things even as simple as a special video can be stored into a small device you can keep in your pocket. Life, literally, could not be simpler in that regard. That is exactly why it can be so frustrating when you cannot download a precious video, to keep with you at all times.
Unfortunately, however, if you are trying to download videos to your iPhone, PC or Mac, there is not exactly a straightforward way to do it. Twitter does not typically allow users to download videos.
But, worry not! I am here to help! There is a way to download your favorite videos. It is a bit of a process, unfortunately, but it is a process that is well-worth the time and effort. Today we are going to be discussing just how to do that. Here is a step-by-step guide to getting your favorite videos on your device:
Downloading Videos onto your iPhone
It is important to note that, when downloading videos to your iPhone, that you have to have a specific file manager app for it, because (of course) there is an app for everything. You could check out the “MyMedia” or the “Documents” apps, and these apps will enable you to download any video to your camera roll. Both apps are free, and both work just the same.
- Step one:
Best Twitter Apps For Mac
Download one of the above-mentioned file manager apps to your iOS device. Depending entirely on your model of iPhone, you may or may not need iOS 9 later to run these apps. Downloading one of these apps is the only way to get your downloads.
- Step two:
Now that you have downloaded your file manager app, and you have gotten it situated in your home screen (or where ever you plan to keep your short cut), you are going to open up your twitter app on your device. Go to the tweet that has the embedded video that you want to download.
- Step three:
After you find your desired video, select the “share” button, and hit “Share Tweet via.” Although, in a lot of cases, you can select the downward arrow and hit the “Share Tweet via” button that way. Whichever way will work just fine, so it does not really matter.
- Step four:
When you click the “Share Tweet via” button, your share sheet will open up. From there, you can select the “Copy Link to Tweet” button.
- Step five:
Now, you are going to launch your file manager app, whether it is the “Documents” app, or the “MyMedia” app. When you do this, your browser tab must be selected in order for this to work. You are going to follow the link, twittervideodownloader.com, and then paste the embedded video link into the text field. Select “download.”
- Step six:
From here, you have a few options for storage files. In order to save on space, I feel it is better to select the smaller size. I am personally paranoid about taking up too much space on my device, so I am always cautious about my file sizes. However, this is really up to you; if you have amazing storage space, you can select the larger file option.
Either or, it doesn’t really matter. Tap “Download Video.” Then you are going to hit “Download the file,” which will get your download started. Enter a name for your video, and a pop up will come up prompting you to save. Hit the “Save” button. The video will proceed to download within the app.
- Step seven:
Now, look in the upper right-hand corner, and hit the “Back” button. Select your “Media tab” down below, and you should see your download. Click and hold your download until you see a menu. It should have a “Save to Camera Roll” option, which is the one you should select.
As far as downloading a video to your iPhone, I know it was a bit more complicated than we would like, but that is pretty much it. It is a longer process, but at least it is an easy one. This way, you get to have your favorite videos stored away in your phone, so you can watch at any given time.

Downloading Twitter Videos to your PC or Mac
So, I know that downloading to your iPhone is a bit of a process. Thankfully, downloading videos to your desktop, whether it is a Mac or a PC is much simpler. It is a 7-step process, as well, but it gets the job done.
- Step one:
From your desktop, open your Twitter feed.
- Step two:
Now, find the video you wish to download on your Twitter feed.
- Step three:
At the top right corner of the tweet, you should see an arrow pointing down. Click it, and you will see a few selection options drop down.
- Step four:
From the drop-down menu, you should see the option to “Copy link to Tweet.” Select it and copy the link. (Side note: If you do not know how to copy, you can right click and hit “Copy.” Or, you can just press Ctrl and C at the same time.)
- Step five:
Now, it is off to a slightly different link. To proceed with your download, go to tweetervideodownloader.com.
- Step six:
When the page opens up, you should see a text box that says, “Paste Tweet URL Here.” Paste your copied link into that text box, and then select download.
- Step seven:
From here, it is very straightforward. Right click on the “Download Video” button, and another drop down menu will appear. From that menu, select “Save Link As.” You will be able to name the file, and download to your computer from there.

That is all there is to it! Downloading on the computer is a much simpler process, but I understand wanting to have your favorite videos in your pocket, where you can watch at any time. So long as you follow the provided instructions, you should be able to download as many videos as you like. Just watch your space on your phone, because you will eventually run out of space.
